Ducati Monster 1100 Berkomponen Titanium

ITALIA, KOMPAS.com - Motocrose, perusahaan yang memproduksi komponen aftermarket untuk motor jenis sport memperkenalkan kreasi terbarunya Ducati Monster 1100 Titanium. Penambahan kata terakhir itu jelas, kalau streetfighter bikinan pabrikan motor Italia itu sudah menggunakan bahan logam ringan kelabu tua.

Pemakaian Titanium, selain untuk mengubah tampilan jadi lebih sangar, juga pada sektor mekanis. Tapi, sumber muara dari penggunaan ini, tak lain mengurangi bobot serta membuat performa motor jadi lebih gahar.

Monster Titanium berkelir hitam dikombinasi merah dan titanium telah mengurangi bobot menjadi 156 kg. Selain bahan di atas, beberapa bagian juga menggunakan serat karbon.

Seperti dilaporkan autoevolution.com, lebih dari 60 komponen standar Ducati sudah diganti. Seperti knalpot berbahan titanium dengan nama Motocrose Evoluzion 54 mm. Mesin pun sudah dimodifikasidengan menghasilkan tenaga 102,6 HP dari sebelumnya 95 HP dengan torsi 113 Nm (103 Nm).

Untuk mengimbangi tenaga mesin yang galak, sistem penghenti laju juga disempurnakan lagi. Untuk piringan rem terbuat dari bahan keramik komposit dengan diameter 320 mm. Kalipernya menggunakan merek Brembo Racing dan pistonnya titanium.

Gapu depan aluminium Marchesini, termasuk juga velgnya dan satu set berikut baut dan mur yang terbuat dari titanium. mengenai harga, tidak disebutkan.

Hebatnya Grand Prix Motor Khusus 1000 cc

Sejarah

Kelas-kelas yang ada saat itu adalah 50cc, 125cc, 250cc, 350cc, dan 500cc untuk motor single seater, serta 350cc dan 500cc untuk motor sidecars. Memasuki tahun 1950-an dan sepanjang 1960-an, motor bermesin 4 tak mendominasi seluruh kelas. Pada akhir 1960-an, motor bermesin 2 tak mulai menguasai kelas-kelas kecil. Di tahun 1970-an motor bermesin 2 tak benar-benar menyingkirkan mesin-mesin 4 tak. Pada tahun 1979, Honda berusaha mengembalikan mesin 4 tak di kelas puncak dengan menurunkan motor NR500, namun proyek ini gagal, dan di tahun 1983 Honda bahkan meraih kemenangan dengan motor 500cc 2 tak miliknya. Pada tahun 1983, kelas 350cc akhirnya dihapuskan. Kelas 50cc kemudian digantikan oleh kelas 80cc di tahun 1984, tetapi kelas yang sering didominasi oleh pembalap dari Spanyol dan Italia ini akhirnya ditiadakan pada tahun 1990. Kelas sidecars juga ditiadakan dari kejuaraan dunia di tahun 1990-an, menyisakan kelas 125cc, 250cc, dan kelas 500cc.

GP 500, kelas yang menjadi puncak balap motor Grand Prix, telah berubah secara dramatis pada tahun 2002. Balap untuk kelas MotoGP saat ini diselenggarakan sebanyak 17 seri di 15 negara yang berbeda (Spanyol menggelar 3 seri balapan). Balapan biasa digelar setiap akhir pekan dengan beberapa tahap. Hari Jum’at digelar latihan bebas dan latihan resmi pertama, kemudian hari Sabtu dilaksanakan latihan resmi kedua dan QTT, di mana para pembalap berusaha membuat catatan waktu terbaik untuk menentukan posisi start mereka. Balapan sendiri digelar pada hari Minggu, meskipun ada seri yang digelar hari Sabtu yaitu di Belanda dan Qatar. Grid (baris posisi start) terdiri dari 3 pembalap perbaris dan biasanya setiap seri balap diikuti oleh sekitar 20 pembalap. Balapan dilaksanakan selama sekitar 45 menit dan pembalap berlomba sepanjang jumlah putaran yang ditentukan, tanpa masuk pit untuk mengganti ban atau mengisi bahan bakar. Balapan akan diulang jika terjadi kecelakaan fatal di awal balapan. Susunan grid tidak berubah sesuai hasil kualifikasi. Pembalap boleh masuk pit jika hanya untuk mengganti motor karena hujan saat balapan.

2010 Ducati Multistrada Review

From our experience testing the new Multistrada 1200 on the varied roads of the Canary Islands, we're confident that many of the Ducati-curious will really appreciate the flexibility, comfort and performance of this sharp-beaked new bird. Did we say performance? Hell, yeah! Forget the homely old air-cooled MTS. This one is powered by a revised version of the 1198 superbike V-Twin, cut down from 170 crankshaft horsepower to a still-very-potent 150 hp. The $14,995 versa-bike may have pretentions as a BMW GS competitor, but it, in relative terms, is a racebike in comparison.

Honda Accord Crosstour shows tiny problems in the IIHS rollover tests

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducted rollover tests on several vehicles and the Honda Accord Crosstour was among those that didn’t do well.

Already, many observers expect this model to get an early refresh. The suggestions include a new face and a titanium-reinforced roof. In the latest tests, the IIHS didn’t exactly roll the vehicles. Rather, the IIHS pushed a metal plate against 1 corner of a roof at a constant speed. To get a good rating, a roof must withstand a force of 4 times the vehicle’s weight before reaching 5 inches of crush. To get an acceptable rating, the minimum strength-to-weight ratio that’s needed is 3.25. A poor rating is given to those that have lower than 2.5. Vehicles that did remarkably well are the Grand Cherokee, Highlander, Liberty, and Venza, which all withstood forces of almost 5 times their weights. The Crosstour can withstand 2.8 times its weight while the Endeavor and Pilot can endure only 3 times its weight.

Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini made strong gains in European auto production in April

For the month of April, luxury carmakers (including Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz division, BMW brand, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini and Land Rover) made strong gains in European auto production.

The 2010 results are expected to come out favorably against the April 2009 period when sales dropped due to the global financial crisis and Europe’s incentive program that favored small cars. With the recovery in the global economy and the ending of government subsidies, the factories in Europe are boosting production to fill orders for high-end models. Notably, the April output for the Mercedes S class rose to 6,012 units from 675 in 2009. The Land Rover Range Rover Sport increased by 157% year on year. Production was also boosted for the all-new Rolls-Royce Ghost, according to estimates from J.D. Power Automotive Forecasting. Overall, European production rose by 8% in the month to 1,367,512 and 28% to 5,746,227 through April. It should also be noted that April was the first month when the year-on-year production growth rate was a single-digit percentage (instead of double digits).
